Fresh 1 in 5 Million protests were held in several cities and towns across Serbia on Friday evening.
Protesters marched through Novi Sad in the north, Nis in the south as well Smederevo, Arandjelovac, Kraljevo, Topola, Pancevo, Krusevac, Zajecar, Vrsac, Kikinda and Stara Pazova.
Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences (SANU) member Dusan Teodorovic spoke at the protest gathering in Nis to say that the situation in Serbia can be described with the words inequality and crime with a lot of people going hungry. He blamed President Aleksandar Vucic for “taking away our freedom” and added that “we are freest now when we are protesting”. “The civic protests should grow into a march for freedom,” Teodorovic said.
Actor Nikola Kojo went to the Belgrade suburb of Mladenovac where he told protesters that “we are here now and for as long as necessary”. He called the people at the protest to help the people who stayed at home that the authorities they voted for only want their wallets and pensions.
Protesters in several places across Serbia demanded the immediate dismissal of their local authorities.
