Bosnia's Republika Srpska (RS) entity government adopted the project “The construction of the 5C Corridor through the territory of RS,” and the tender procedure for the first construction phase was already over and works should begin in early 2019.

The total construction price is € 500 without the VAT or additional costs and the Autoputevi RS (RS Highways) company plans to build the 5C Corridor in several phases. It is planned that the construction will last three years.

The 5C Corridor is a pan-European road link, connecting Budapest and eastern Croatia to the Adriatic coast through Bosnian territory.

Bosnia's Federation (FBiH) entity has 102 kilometres of motorways, which fully belongs to the 5C Corridor. The RS entity constructed three kilometres more, but none of it makes a part of this pan-European road link.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), approved € 700 million for the construction of the Corridor after Bosnia adopted the increase of excise duties.

The RS authorities plan to build two Corridor sections with the EBRD funds, two sections with European Investment Bank’s (EIB) funds and talks are underway with their Chinese partners to explore some other financing models.
