Bosnia's southern city of Mostar is the topmost underrated romantic city in the world, and apart from the Old Bridge, an American website Matador Network said it is characterised by the combination old Turkish houses, European architecture, cobblestone streets, bazaars, shops, and cafes.
In their ‘Seven most underrated cities in the world,’ they say that Mostar can be attractive to everyone because of its cuisine, climate, monuments and closeness to other natural attractions.
Mostar’s Old bridge is not just a bridge – it is a symbol of love. It saw many engagements and marriages over the years.
“Last year a pair from Alabama got engaged here, which proves that Mostar is one of the most romantic and beautiful cities in Europe,” a tourist guide, Ibrahim Sabanac, said.
“I absolutely agree that Mostar is romantic, it’s a very interesting place, it has a lot of history and many interesting places,” a tourist guide from Taiwan said.
Mostar residents will also say that Mostar in not only about the Old Bridge. There are many other sights to see and enjoy.
“When you put your headphones on and walk down the city, you’ll see that Mostar is very romantic. It has many wonderful details, and even the nature around the city is beautiful,” a resident, Dejan Kosanic, said.
“Mostar is stunning, a hodgepodge of old Turkish houses, European architecture, cobblestone streets, bazaars, shops, and cafes where you can sip coffee or wine, both of which Mostar does well,” the American website said, adding that it is time to end the monopoly of Paris as the City of Love.
