The legendary Portuguese footballer, Luis Figo, arrived in Sarajevo, on Friday, at the invitation of Mayor Abdulah Skaka, with whom he met at a local restaurant.
Skaka invited Figo to the international tour operator gathering which is held in Sarajevo from March 28 to April 1, under the motto “Meet Up Sarajevo.”
The idea behind the conference is to gather influential tour operators and travel agencies and present them the tourist offer of Sarajevo and Bosnia. This, in turn, would help local tourist agencies to connect directly to international companies and make new agreements, thus making Sarajevo into an even more attractive destination.
Figo was named the best football player in the world in 2001 and 2006 he was selected for the ideal team of the world football championship in Germany.
He was declared the best Portuguese football player six times and is one of FIFA’s top 100 living players in the world.
He played 127 matches for the Portuguese national team and scored 32 goals. In 2004, he helped the team win the second place at the European Football Championship.
