Sam Childers, a former ‘Outlaws’ member who now dedicates his life and resources to rescue children in the war zone of South Sudan spoke to N1’s Esmir Milavic about the life-changing event that turned his life upside down – from an outlaw to a humanitarian who founded Angels for East Africa, the Children's Village Orphanage in Nimule, South Sudan.
Sam said the only thing he gave up was the drugs. He still has his guns and bikes, but the thing that changed his life was accepting Jesus Christ into his life.
Childers told N1 that one day he felt the need to stand up for the children who were dying, who were killed by Joseph Kony. That is when he started saving children. The beginnings were hard, but he knew he must not give up. Today, his organisation is building schools, buildings and digging wells. They operate in three African countries. His motto is “Never give up.”
