The Old Bridge in Mostar turned blue, white and red Tuesday evening, resembling the colours of the French flag and honouring in this way the Parisian Notre-Dame Cathedral, which suffered severe damage during a devastating fire this Monday.
Mostarians and all people of Bosnia and Herzegovina express their solidarity with the people of France, said activists of the Centre for Peace, who lit the UNESCO-protected Old Bridge blue, white and red.
Just like the reconstruction of the Old Bridge and Mostar's Old Town united the donors from all parts of the world, this tragedy will unite the whole world in the recovery of the Notre-Dame Cathedral, they said.
Safet Orucevic, founder of the Centre for Peace and former Mostar Mayor, recalled that France was among the first and one of the biggest donors in the reconstruction of the Old Bridge, which is today a symbol of peace and reconciliation.
