Maz Saleem, the daughter of Mohammed Saleem who was killed in cold blood at his doorstep in Birmingham, England, by a Ukrainian student and white supremacist, Pavlo Lapshyn, told N1 that for the past 17 years, the media in the UK and the US have been demonising Muslims.

Saleem, who became an activist after the sentencing of Lapshyn said the British government never characterised her father’s murder as an act of terrorism even though the Ukrainian student was found guilty of planting three bombs in mosques across Great Britain. She added that he planned to detonate them remotely.

The 25-year-old Ukrainian white supremacist was sentenced to 40 years behind bars for the murder six years ago.

She said that a so-called ‘race war’ inspired Lapshyn, and that he led an open campaign against the Muslims. Although he was known for his extremist views, the young man managed to get a student visa to study in Great Britain, she said.
