Kosovo media: No mention of border changes in Berlin document

The draft final document for the Western Balkans summit in Berlin makes no mention of border changes or the revoking of the 100 percent tariffs on good from Serbia and Bosnia, the Pristina-based Koha.net news portal said on Monday.

The portal said it had access to a draft statement drawn up by German and French officials and handed out to summit participants does not include border changes, a possible part of the final legally binding agreement to normalize Belgrade-Pristina relations, nor the revoking or suspension of the tariffs imposed by the government of Kosovo which official Belgrade says is a condition to continue the dialogue.  

Koha said that the final statement praises Greece and North Macedonia for their agreement to resolve the name dispute and underscores the importance of an agreement to normalize Kosovo-Serbia relations and their European perspective, adding that the agreement has to be comprehensive, politically sustainable and contribute to the stability of the region.  

The draft statement is reported to say that cooperation to prevent radicalism and combat terrorism and the illegal trade in firearms needs to be reinforced along and it also stressed the determination to secure democracy, the rule of law, strengthen the role of civil society and independent media and combat corruption and organized crime.
