The US remains firmly committed to Bosnia and Herzegovina, supporting further reforms and fulfilling of conditions on its Euro-Atlantic integration process, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Palmer told members of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency, Milorad Dodik, Sefik Dzaferovic and Zeljko Komsic, on Wednesday.
He said that the Presidency, which consists of three members, each coming from one of the constituent peoples in the country – Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats, has the leading position in Bosnia's future steps towards the EU as well as in the faster implementation of socio-economic reforms needed to make life easier for the Bosnians.
During the meeting, they talked about the bilateral cooperation between Bosnia and the US, the current political and economic situation in the country and its EU accession path.
The Presidency members told the US diplomat that the European Commission should provide its opinion on Bosnia's answers to their pre-accession Questionnaire.
They reiterated that Bosnia's European future is undeniable and that economic reforms, economic growth and the fight against corruption should remain in focus of the authorities’ further work.
The US Assistant Secretary of State was accompanied by the US Ambassador to Bosnia Eric Nelson, Assistant USAID administrator for Europe and Eurasia Brock Bierman whom the Presidency members thanked for the USAID's engagement and help in various projects important for the Bosnian society and economy.
