Divers, scouts, rescuers and volunteers from the region came to Mostar to implement a big eco operation 'Bridge,' of cleaning the banks of Neretva and Radobolja rivers, the area around the Old Bridge and the Old Town of this Southern-Bosnian city.
The Diving Club Neretva organised the traditional cleaning operation, and head of the club Miro Dusic noted that the operation is extremely important as reflected by the number of participants from the entire region coming to Mostar every year.
“This year we were visited by a large number of friendly divers’ clubs, scouts and volunteers and even the guests from Novi Sad, Serbia came,” Dusic said.
Vladimir Bjelica from the Diving Club Novi Sad said he was happy to support this operation which can serve as an example to everyone.
“It's my first time in Mostar, I'm happy I came, and I hope to come here again,” Bjelica said.
He noted that having collectors gathering wastewater and faecal matter is vital for Neretva and many other European rivers, which is not the case with the Danube in the section running through Serbia.
The eco operation Bridge is organised by the Diving Club Neretva, Neretva Kayak Club, Neretva Alpine and Sports Climbing Club, and the Youth Council of the City of Mostar.
