Municipal authorities declared Tuesday evening a state of natural disaster on larger parts of the northeastern Kalesija municipality, due to severe floods and landslides they caused during the past day.

The decision was passed on a proposal of the Civil Protection Administration Commander Sead Dzafic.

Western parts of the municipality suffered huge damage due to the recent floods caused by heavy rain that has been falling on Tuesday.

The situation in Kalesija municipality is similar to those in other parts of the Tuzla region.

“I must say that Kalesija, unfortunately, suffers the same fate as other municipalities in the Tuzla Canton. The announcements of 2019 being a year of heavy rainfalls have come true. A commission to assess the damage will now have to determine the damage in Kalesija area. What I saw while I was outside is that the damage is not small at all,” said Mufic Klincevic, cantonal minister and Tuzla Canton Civil Protection Administration commander.

Sead Dzafic, Head of Kalesija Municipality, said the Tuzla Canton Government is expected to help the town to recover and help its residents.
