America has increased its presence in the region and presence of other players will probably be the answer to that, according to Milos Solaja, Professor of the Faculty for Political Sciences at Banja Luka University.

Speaking for N1, the professor analysed ongoing developments in Bosnia and its surrounding, noting that the region has been on a side track throughout modern history but was not completely insignificant.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina is a burning issue to us but the world doesn't see it that way. However, the world powers do deal with this area which is very inflammable,” Solaja said in N1's Novi dan programme.

The fact that the region does not have any open conflicts proves that those powers, which do not show their ambitions, are keeping it under control, according to him.

The recent visit of US Secretary of the State, Mike Pompeo, to Serbia as well as the current visit of State Department's senior official, Matthew Palmer, to Bosnia speaks in favour to the claim that the US has increased its presence in the region, said the professor.

“The response will probably be a stronger presence of other players,” he added.

According to him, the times when there was only one dominant power in the world have passed.

“That was the United States of America, which is the most powerful even today but there are certainly other global powers disabling the American power. I would first emphasise China, which takes part in the defining of grounds to develop a new world order,” said the professor pointing out that China plays a careful strategy and is not competing in the weapon but making its way through using sophisticated systems.
