Although threatened by full devastation due to unresolved property-legal issues, a forgotten marsh lake complex in the northern Bosnia defies all the threats and still captures the attention of true nature lovers.
Bardaca lake complex is one of the seven places in Bosnia and Herzegovina that has been under the protection of the Switzerland-based International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) since 1995.
The complex was named the park of nature, grouped in the third IUCN’s category amongst other small places with extraordinary significance for nature.
Of 11 lakes, seven dried up which resulted in the extinction of many plant and animal species.
