As N1 has unofficially learned, Serbia's police, ordered by the prosecutors have arrested on Saturday night a man who threatened Zana Cimili, N1 Kosovo correspondent late on Thursday.

The man was apprehended under suspicion of committed a crime defined as ‘spreading of religious and national hatred and imperil safety.’

The man who made the threats on social networks said he had “a life desire to kill an Albanian, even an Albanian child,” adding he hoped “for a new war in Kosovo during which the Albanians will feel Serbian rage.”

N1 sharply condemned this outrageous hate speech and risk to N1 reporter who did her job professionally and responsibly.

The TV said it expected the police and respective prosecutors’ offices in Belgrade and Pristina to investigate as soon as possible who was behind these dangerous messages and where they came from.

The condemnation also came from the Association of Kosovo Journalists (ANK) and The Association of Serbia's Journalists (UNS).

Serbia's Prime Minister Ana Brnbabic said that “the atrocious threats to N1 journalist Zana Cimili are unacceptable and deserve condemnation. It's difficult to imagine that in the 21st century someone can threaten to anyone without being punished.”

Immediately after the news on threats broke out, Brnabic said she expected “the respective institutions to react as soon as possible and find out who is behind these threats and sanction them appropriately.”
