Most of the tourists visiting Sarajevo Canton throughout the first six months of 2019 were from China, the President of Sarajevo’s Tourist Board, Nermin Muzur, told N1 on Saturday.

There are still a lot of tourists from Turkey, Arab countries and some European countries visiting the capital, but the order at the top of that list has changed, he said.

“We have the same number of tourists coming from the East and the West,” he said, adding that it “gives Sarajevo a special image.”

He also pointed out the importance of the Sarajevo Film Festival for the city, which is taking place between August 16 and August 23.

“It is impossible to speak about the summer in Sarajevo without mentioning the Sarajevo Film Festival,” he said.

“The benefits are enormous and there is economic data which shows how many tourists come and how many stay the night,” he said.
