Protesters put up posters with “Vucic’s lies” in central Belgrade

Participants in the weekly 1 in 5 Million protests in Belgrade put up posters with what they said are the lies of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

The posters were put in the Terazije traffic tunnel in the heart of the city. Protesters put up flyers with slogans at earlier protests before the city authorities ordered the walls of the tunnel coated with a non-stick paint. Some of the posters dropped off the walls because of that paint.

Protest security staff said the communal police tried to fine protesters who put up posters, adding that several city communal service trucks were parked in front of the tunnel.

The protesters then marched to the Serbian state TV (RTS) building where they removed two RTS flags from flagpoles and raised banners saying Free Elections and Free Media. The glass doors to the building were covered in stickers with the letters SNS (for Vucic’s Serbian Progressive Party) instead of RTS. The crowd also shouted RTS is SNS.

The protest ended in front of the nearby Serbian Presidency building with the message that Vucic would be alone at elections unless he allows fair conditions. The protesters brought sacks filled with what they said were ballots with the words Aleksandar Vucic – Future of Serbia for every list of candidates.

Organizers put up pictures illustrating what they said is “destruction of Serbia during Aleksandar Vucic’s rule”. The pictures included the tearing down of houses to make room for the Belgrade Waterfront project, Vucic’s appearances on the RTS, the fountain on central Slavija square and signs reading Media Darkness, Vucic Ruling Against the Constitution and others.
