After Croatia’s President allegedly claimed during her visit to Israel that Bosnia was an “unstable” country controlled by “militant Islam,” Special Representative of the EU in Bosnia, Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, said on Wednesday that he does not see Bosnia as an unstable.
Wigemark said he does not want to comment on the statements of the President of Croatia, which is an EU country, nor on any other statements by EU officials.
Claims by Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic made in Israel have outraged officials in Sarajevo.
“While nearly all claim to be Syrian refugees, most are actually African or Pakistani migrants who try to break through the border from Bosnia-Herzegovina, which Grabar-Kitarović said was very unstable, and had in some respects been taken over by people who have connections with Iran and terrorist organizations. The country is now controlled by militant Islam, which is dominant in setting the agenda, she said, adding that some are very violent and break into people’s homes.” the Jerusalem Post wrote of the meeting in Israel.
“There is significant international presence in Bosnia and Herzegovina, including EUFOR as part of the Altea operation, as well as many other international organisations, but that doesn’t mean that the country is unstable,” Wigemark told reporters.
He called upon politicians to steer their efforts to topics which are important for the citizens.
