Bosnia's permanent representative with the United Nations (UN), Ambassador Swen Alkalaj, signed a joint statement Agreement, on Tuesday, on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bosnia and Barbados, the Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.
Elizabeth Thompson, Barbados’ permanent representative with the UN signed the Agreement on their behalf and the signing ceremony was held in the premises of Bosnia's Mission at the UN, in New York.
The topic of climate change dominated the exchange of ambassadors’ views after the signing ceremony. Both sides stressed the need to intensify efforts by the UN, as well as all other international actors, to curb global warming, which directly threatens the existence of small island nations due to rising sea levels.
Interlocutors agreed that exchange of bilateral visits at the highest level would contribute to the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
