A film by Bosnian-Dutch director Ena Sendijarevic 'Take Me Somewhere Nice' was awarded the Heart of Sarajevo for the best feature film of the 25th Sarajevo Film Festival, the jury chaired by Swedish filmmaker Ruben Ostlund decided in a ceremony held Thursday evening at the Sarajevo National Theatre.
The film had its world premiere at the Rotterdam Film Festival where it won the main prize.
The Heart of Sarajevo for the Best Director was handed to Turkish author Emin Alper for ‘Three Sisters’ movie.
The jury decided that the Best Actress of the 25th SFF was Irina Jambonas for her performance in ‘Rounds’ while the Best Actor of this year's festival edition was Levan Gelbakhiani for the role he played in ‘And Then We Danced’ film.
The best documentary of the 25th SFF was ‘When Persimmons Grew’ by Azerbaijani Hilal Badarov.
Besides Sweden's film director and screenwriter, the best films in the competition programme were selected by Bero Beyer, director of the Rotterdam International Film Festival, Funa Maduka, director of the International Original Films at Netflix, Serbian actress Jovana Stojiljkovic and Macedonian film director Teona Strugar-Mitevska.
The record number of 270 films in 18 different categories and representing 56 countries were shown during the Sarajevo Film Festival. Sixty-eight films had their world and twelve the international premiere.
Fifty-three films competed for the Heart of Sarajevo award.
The best achievements of this year's festival will be screened again on Friday, August 23, when the event will officially end.
