French President Emmanuel Macron told an annual meeting with the country’s ambassadors that he wants to re-engage in the Western Balkans to stop others deciding its fate, the Beta news agency reported on Thursday.
France has to re-engage with its neighbor and friendly countries in a world which is changing strategically and geographically or non-European powers will act in its place, warning that the US, Russia and Turkey will decide about the Western Balkans.
Having a European strategy means bearing in mind the borders of Europe, he told the ambassadors.
Macron urged a stronger Europe based on humanism and enlightenment.
