The first honorary consulate of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Slovak Republic is a new step in the improvement of the two countries' relations, Bosnian Foreign Minister Igor Crnadak said on Thursday during the opening ceremony in the town of Senec near Bratislava.

This is a new step in moving Bosnia and Slovakia closer, “which is special because we see Slovakia as a true friend, true European friend, someone who understands well our internal affairs and someone who truly supports our goals and wish to become a part of European integration,” stressed Crnadak.

The honorary consulate in Senec is the first formal presence of Bosnia in Slovakia and Munir Pasagic, a businessman and philanthropist, was appointed the honorary consul.

“Until we open the embassy in Bratislava, I'm inviting all our people to gather around our honorary consulate, which is the first official, formal presence of Bosnia and Herzegovina here, to do as much as possible together for our people. I am sure that Mr Pasagic will be encouraged even more to continue the work, now officially, which as far as I heard he was doing very successfully,” said Crnadak.

Miroslav Lajcak, the Slovak Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, also attended the ceremony saying that it was of exceptional importance that the FMs of two countries attend such ceremony.

“I am glad to be here because this is the first official presence of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Slovakia,” he said.
