New anti-LGBTIQ protest held ahead of first Bosnian Pride March

Organisers of the anti-LGBTIQ march, the Iskorak Initiative, said they wanted to say ‘no’ to “deviations in society.”

“We want to say the truth, the one that our Lord obliged us to, the truth the way it is. A huge sin is being committed in our city, this is a terror of minority against the majority. I’ve seen this morning on my way here that half a city was blocked. For what? Why should citizens put up with that? As if Trump and Putin were coming here together. That’s a shame,” said Muhamed Kabahija, the initiative’s representative.

Another protest walk against the Pride March was held in the Bosnian capital on Saturday.

Meanwhile, strong police forces are securing the streets and squares along the route of the first Pride March, whose participants will walk from the Eternal Flame memorial, down Titova Street to the State Parliament’s building.

Mirza Hadziabdic, spokesperson for the Sarajevo Canton Interior Ministry briefly told N1 that the police are taking all measures and activities in line with law regulations. Hadziabdic did not confirm if media allegations about the presence of 1,100 police officers securing the event were accurate.

Activists organising the LGBTIQ parade carried out the last preparations this morning, preparing the banners they will be carrying during the walk.
