Bosnia's State Prosecutor's Office issued dozens of indictments this and last year in regard to illegal migrations and smuggling of migrants, Chief Prosecutor Gordana Tadic told the Head of the mission of the International Organisation for Migrations in Bosnia Peter Van der Auweraert.
The two officials met on Thursday to discuss the issue of migrations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the issue of illegal migrants as well as the return of Bosnian nationals from foreign warzones.
Prosecutor Tadic informed the IOM's chief with the activities that the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and partner institutions take to combat the crimes related to illegal migrations and smuggling of migrants.
The Prosecutor's Office issued dozens of indictments during this and last year, according to Tadic, which treated both Bosnian as well as the foreign nationals who committed the crimes in Bosnia, and the institution also carried out several joint international operations aimed against these crimes.
Representatives of the IOM and the State Prosecutor's Office agreed that the two institutions will continue the regular communication and cooperation.
They also agreed that the problems related to illegal migrations are a complex issue and that it requires the engagement of all competent institutions both at the local and international level to overcome this problem.
