The Belgrade Higher Court sentenced a former soldier of the Bosnian Serb Army to 15 years in jail for killing four Bosniak men and raping a Bosniak woman in the Bratunac region, the easternmost part of the Serb entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina in May 1992, the Humanitarian Law Centre (HLC) said in a statement.
According to HLC, the Court passed the verdict for Dalibor Maksimovic on September 23.
Maksimovic was charged with killing the men, locking up two Bosniak women one of whom he raped repeatedly in Repovac and Glogovo near Bratunac, together with other still unknown Bosnian Serb soldiers.
HLC added the Court was wrong in referring the victim to seek her right through litigation since she testified as a protected witness and thus had no right to look for compensation with a hidden identity.
