The European perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the rest of the Western Balkans, is unquestionable but the country has to speed up reform processes and implement the European Commission's recommendations, newly appointed Head of the European Union's Delegation and Special Representative Johan Sattler said on Wednesday.
The ambassador met Bosniak member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency to discuss ongoing political developments in the country with a focus on Bosnia's EU path.
The rule of law and judicial reform, as well as the socio-economic issues and public administration reforms, will be priorities of his work, said Sattler.
Two officials also discussed the stalemate in the government formation, almost a year after the 2018 general election, pointing out that the Council of Ministers must be formed as soon as possible and the work of the State Parliament unblocked, which would create conditions to resume the reforms on the road to EU.
Dzaferovic stressed that government formation is a matter of the rule of law, which are fundamental values of the European Union. He said the Council of Ministers can be formed very soon if the Constitution and laws are obeyed, which also refers to the Law on Defence and the Presidency's decision regarding the cooperation with NATO.
The Presidency member wished ambassador Sattler a successful term in Bosnia and expressed a hope this period will mark accelerated progress of Bosnia towards EU membership.
