Bosnia and Herzegovina should have multiple sources of natural gas ensuring security in gas supply, the State Foreign Trade Minister Mirko Sarovic said, Wednesday, in Athens where he is attending the First Annual Eastern Mediterranean Energy Leadership Summit.

"In making strategic decisions, Bosnia should be guided by its own need to provide more different sources of gas supply, which would provide the security of supply and greater competitiveness in terms of gas prices as well as benefits to end consumers," Minister Sarovic noted. "If we start thinking in this way, we will not have to fight internally about which pipeline is more important, as we do now."

During the ministerial round table dedicated to energy development in south-east Europe, especially in the gas sector, Sarovic pointed out that Bosnia is lagging behind in adopting decisions on inclusion in strategic gas projects implemented in the region such as the Turkish Stream and the Adriatic-Ionian Pipeline.

The Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Ministry noted that Bosnia does not have its own gas production and is completely depended on imports from only one import hub.
