Russia had never interfered in Bosnia's internal affairs, but it regrets the fact that foreign forces are constantly trying to drag the peoples of this country into NATO's military and political zone of interest, the Russian Embassy in Bosnia said on Friday.
“It is obvious that one if Bosnia's constituent peoples are against the accession to this military bloc, that it had not forgotten the malign role the Alliance plaid during the war in Bosnia and Kosovo in 1995 and 1999, and their point of view and reasoning are completely logical,” the Embassy said.
Bosnia's NATO accession is a hot topic in the country, with Bosniaks and Croats supporting it and Serbs standing against it. This issue is also one of the main reasons why the country never formed its government following the general election in October 2018.

They argue that Bosnia's inclusion into the Euro-Atlantic zone undermines its internal political stability, creates new divisions and is contrary to the logic behind the Dayton Peace Agreement which ended the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia, which they say determined that all vital national decisions must be based on the consensus of all three constituent peoples.
“With regard to the continued interpretation of Russia's stance on Bosnia's Euro-Atlantic integration, we would like to finally clarify this issue.
