Bosnian humanitarian organisation Pomozi.ba opened the first Goodwill restaurant in the country, in Travnik, where socially vulnerable categories of the society can eat for free, the organisation said Tuesday.
“It's a somewhat different soup kitchen concept where human dignity and meal quality are our priority. It's a soup kitchen without queues and small buckets reminiscent of the war. This is is a place where people who don't have enough money won't feel threatened or different from the others. They can come in, take their meal, sit down and feel like in any other restaurant,” the Pomozi.ba organisation said.
In addition to the people who will be eating at the Goodwill restaurant, the restaurant will deliver meals to elderly and sick people in Travnik and the surrounding area at their home address.
“Some 100 meals are currently being prepared at the restaurant, but we expect the number of customers to double in the next month. The kitchen's capacity is more than a thousand meals a day,” Pomozi.ba added.
The Goodwill Restaurant is located at the place where the Sheher restaurant existed until recently, and the owners, the Fulurija family, decided to close their catering facility in order to embark on this humanitarian mission with the Pomozi.ba organization.
