Trial against Bosnian accused of joining paramilitary unit in Ukraine begins
The trial of Gavrilo Stevic, accused of fighting in Ukraine as a member of a paramilitary group, has begun on Tuesday at the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to prosecutors, Stevic has in July 2014 travelled to Moscow and then to the Lugansk region in Ukraine to join the ‘Jovan Sevic’ paramilitary group.
Stevic allegedly took part in various activities there and committed the crime of “illegally forming or joining a paramilitary formation acting outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
Prosecutor Suada Pasic suggested that the court hears the testimonies od two officials from the state police (State Investigation and Protection Agency, SIPA).

Stevic’s lawyer, Veljko Civsa, refrained from making statements to the court on Tuesday, except saying that his client will “explain his reason for going there (Ukraine).”
