Heather Conley: The forces which want to divide Bosnia never sleep

There are forces which want to divide Bosnia and Herzegovina and they are working on it daily, while the country lacks true political leadership that could move it forward, Senior Vice President for Europe, Eurasia and the Arctic in the Center for Strategic and International Studies Heather Conley told Voice of America (VOA).

She said that while the attention of the US and Europe is steered into another direction, “the forces which want Bosnia and Herzegovina to be divided and have separated entities are not sleeping and are not satisfied.”

“They are working on it daily and those are the forces we must oppose,” Conley said.

Conley explained that the entities are “abusing this paralysis so they can begin changing the country and its nature from within.”

“Surely the person who has used this most skillfully is Mr Dodik and Republika Srpska,” she said, referring to Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency and leader of the strongest Serb party in the country.

The country should move forward but is doing the opposite, but this is difficult to achieve because “we don’t see political leadership, political will,” she said.
