Croatia's Plinacro gas pipeline operator said on Thursday a contract had been signed for the sale of the Opatovac-Brod pipeline which would enable the oil refinery in Brod, Bosnia and Herzegovina to run on natural gas and Plinacro to increase its gas transport revenues.
The contract was signed by Plinacro and Crodux Energetika CEOs Ivica Arar and Branko Radosevic. The managing director of the Brod refinery, Anatoliy Karalyus, was present at the signing.
The agreement is the result of Plinacro's call for bids for the sale and repurposing of the gas pipeline section from the Slobodnica gas node to the Bosnian border.
Plinacro said in a press release that it supported from the start the project to supply the Brod refinery with natural gas in order to reduce the air pollution it causes and improve air quality in Slavonski Brod, a Croatian town across the Sava river.
