Bosnian youth that attended the World Forum for Democracy in Strasbourg on Friday sent a message to Emmanuel Macron saying that their home is “not a ticking time-bomb,” as the French President said in an interview with the Economist a day before.
“Macron, you are welcome to Bosnia and Herzegovina, our home is not a ticking time-bomb,” they wrote on pieces of paper and held up for top Council of Europe officials and participants of the Forum to see.
Macron told The Economist on Thursday that Bosnia is the most concerning issue when it comes to the Western Balkans.
“If you're concerned about this region, the first question is neither Macedonia, nor Albania, it's Bosnia and Herzegovina. The time-bomb that's ticking right next to (the EU member) Croatia, and which faces the problem of returning jihadists,” he said, referring to escaped or released Islamic State fighters who could return to Europe.
