A dive into Neretva river marks the day when Old Bridge was destroyed (VIDEO)
After throwing a flower, Jasmin Kreso jumped off the Old Mostar bridge and dived into the Neretva river, symbolically marking the 26th anniversary of the day when the centuries-old landmark was destroyed in the shelling.
Dozens of spectators watched in silence and threw the flowers down the river, but didn't follow the dive with applause which is a custom in the city.
On this day, in 1993, the Croat Defence Council (HVO) shelled the Old Bridge until the structure connecting the two sides of Mostar since the middle ages collapsed into the river.
The bridge is considered a symbol of Mostar and Bosnia as a whole.
