North Macedonia's Prime Minister, Zoran Zaev, has announced that both Spain and France will soon ratify the accession protocol for his country to become a full NATO member in January.

Zaev said at a party panel in Veles that Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez told him on Friday that a new government would be formed in his country soon after the November 10 election.

“Spain will form a government very soon and ratify the NATO protocol which we are expecting. At the end of November, France will ratify it in Parliament because the Senate has already done so. All NATO countries will ratify the protocol,” Zaev said.

Spain and France are the last of the 29 member states yet to ratify North Macedonia’s NATO accession protocol.
