The new Chairman-designate of Bosnia’s Council of Ministers, Zoran Tegeltija, said on Thursday that he will focus on the economy and that he will do everything he can to achieve full coordination with the Prime Ministers of the country’s two semi-autonomous entities as soon as the Parliament confirms his appointment.
After more than a year of bickering between the three parties which won the October 2018 election, the three members of the country’s Presidency on Tuesday finally agreed to support the nomination of Tegeltija, a member of the ruling Bosnian Serb party, for the post.
“The Presidency has submitted the decision and I was informed by the Parliament that the Commission (on naming the Council of Ministers) will hold a session on Tuesday,” he said, adding that he will try to answer all the questions any political party representatives have on that day.
“In the first week of December, I will be ready to stand before the Parliament and present my programme and I expect that the Presidency’s decision will be verified at that session,” he said.
“The focus of my interest will be the economy, the economy and only the economy. Rapid economic development can solve many problems in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” he stressed.
Tegeltija said that he will do everything he can to establish full coordination with the Prime Ministers of the two semi-autonomous entities, Republika Srpska’s (RS) Radovan Viskovic and the Federation’s (FBiH) Fadil Novalic.
“I think that there can hardly be any obstructions and disagreements on issues regarding the economy. We will put an effort into not having the Council of Ministers be a place where there will be confrontations over political issues,” he said.
