Peter Handke "is a genocide denier" and does not deserve the Nobel Prize, Swedish doctor and writer Christina Doctare told N1 on Wednesday, explaining why she returned her Nobel Peace Prize after the controversial Austrian writer was awarded.
“I felt shame being in the same group of award winners as Handke,” she said.

Doctare received the Nobel Peace Prize for her work as a member of the U.N. Peacekeeping Force in 1988.
She joined the hundreds of people who protested in Stockholm as Handke was receiving his Nobel Prize for literature on Tuesday.
“Handke is not a person I have any respect for, he is a genocide denier and he is behaving also in a way that I think is not worthy of a Nobel Prize winner,” she said.
