The fact that no Bosnian flag was in the room when representatives of the Islamic Community in the northern town of Doboj met with Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik on Wednesday represents a "serious oversight", Bosnia's Islamic Community (IC) said on Thursday.
Dodik met with representatives of the IC in Doboj, a town in the Serb-majority semi-autonomous entity of Republika Srpska (RS), to discuss the construction of an Islamic Centre toward which he donated 100,000 Bosnian Marks.
“The management of the Majlis of the Islamic Community Doboj made a serious oversight in arranging the room for the meeting between Islamic Community representatives and the Serb member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, when only the flags of the IC in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosnia’s entity of Republika Srpska were set up,” a statement by the IC said.
“The Islamic Community considers this a serious failure for which it is apologising to its members and the responsibility of the competent IC bodies will be determined through an internal procedure,” it said.
“At the same time, the Islamic Community welcomes meetings and cooperation between IC and all levels of government in Bosnia and Herzegovina to ensure the rights of Muslims in all parts of its territory,” the statement concluded.
