Convicted Bosnian Serb soldier charged with another war crime

Special Prosecutor for War Crimes issued a war crime indictment against former Bosnian Serb fighter Milan Lukic, who is already serving a life prison sentence for crimes against humanity and violations of the laws or customs of war committed in the eastern Bosnian town of Visegrad in 1992 and 1993.

Lukic is charged with the breach of the Geneva Conventions and taking part in the planning and organising of the abduction of Bosniaks and Croats from forcibly stopped train, which was operating from Belgrade to the Montenegrin town Bar.

After they kidnapped total of 20 persons from the train in the Bosnian eastern village Strpci, Lukic and other members of the wartime Bosnian Serb forces took them to a school in Prelovo village where they were beaten, tortured, abused and robbed, and eventually taken to Musici village. The victims were murdered there and their bodies were thrown into the Drina river.

Of 20 victims, the mortal remains of only four victims have been found so far.

The indictment has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation, said the Prosecutor's Office.

Lukic was sentenced in December 2012 before the United Nations war crimes tribunal and is serving a life imprisonment sentence.
