The Bosnian Croat member of the Presidency expressed on Tuesday support for his Bosniak colleague whom certain Serbian newspapers accused of meeting with late Iranian general Quasem Suleimani.

Serbian newspapers ‘Novosti’ and ‘Tanjug’ reported that Sefik Dzaferovic, while serving as the director of the Security Centre in the town of Zenica, met with late Iranian general during the 1992-1995 Bosnian war – information which reportedly came from “diplomatic sources in Sarajevo.”

“Sefik Dzaferovic is an honest man and the attacks coming from Serbian media are unscrupulous lies. Also, those attacks are not only steered against Dzaferovic, but represent a continued effort to discredit the institution of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the state,” said Dzaferovic’s Croat colleague, Zeljko Komsic.

“All those who respect the state and are engaged in politics are obligated to condemn these attacks and call them out for what they are. If not, someone else could be the target tomorrow,” he added.

Dzaferovic himself responded to the allegations as well, calling them “ridiculous” and accusing Serbia’s secret service of placing that information in media.
