State prosecutors have on Thursday raised an indictment against former Bosnian Serb Army deputy general Mile Ujic for his alleged involvement in war crimes committed in the area of the eastern town of Rogatica during the Bosnian war.

Ujic, born in 1951, is “accused of participating in the expulsion of the civilian population” during the “systematic attack by the Army of Republika Srpska on the civilian Bosniak population” in the area of Rogatica in 1992 and 1993.

Ujic allegedly commanded and participated in the attack on the village of Kozadre during which eight men were killed and about 20 civilians, including women and children, were wounded. The houses of the victims were then set ablaze.

The remaining civilians were, according to the indictment, illegally imprisoned only to be exiled from the area later.

The remains of eight victims were found, exhumed and identified after the war.
