The eighth 'Merlinka' queer film festival in Sarajevo will begin Thursday at 6 pm and it will last until Saturday, February 8. This year's motto is Fortune favours the bold.
After the official opening, Aleksandar Crnogorac will address the crowd before opening his TransBalkan photo exhibition.
Crnogorac photographed 34 trans people from various parts of the Balkans, with the aim of raising trans awareness in the region. Each portrait is accompanied by a brief biographical text.
From 7 pm, audiences will be able to watch “The Portrait of a Lady in Flames,” a lesbian story that won the Best Screenplay and Queer Palm Award at the Cannes Film Festival, as well as 24 other awards and 62 nominations at various international festivals and competitions, including Golden Globes.
After the film, from 9 pm to 9:30 pm, a performance by Selma Selman, a Bosnian artist and Roma activist, will be presented.
The first day of Merlinka closes with a cocktail and acoustic gig of the rising musician, Sara Mihaela Dedic.
