Missing babies' parents: Shame on you, Serbia!

N1

The parents of the missing babies in Serbia continued to protest against a law dealing with the issue, saying it was written so that the truth remains a secret, N1 reported.

They gathered at the plateau outside the Parliament which was discussing the Law on Missing Babies, to demand to be included in drafting a new text.

Besides, they requested investigations with special privileges, parallel DNA and asked what if the child was found alive since, as they said, the Law did not envisage that.

The parents said they submitted 130 appeals and suggestions which no respective institutions reacted to in the last six years.

However, they said they would not give up.

One of the key objections they have to the Law is a stipulation that if the case could not be solved, they would be compensated with 10,000 Euros per child.

“Do you think that any parent would accept that? Shame on you, Serbia, for what you’re doing to mothers and fathers. Shame on you,” Mirjana Novokmet said on behalf of the parents.

Asked what will be their next move, the parents say they hope the draft law will be withdrawn and that someone will eventually invite them for consultations in searching for the best solution.

Until then, they continue with the protest.
