There is no room for panic over potential coronavirus spread, which can be controlled if everyone stick to prescribed procedures, prime ministers of Bosnia's two semi-autonomous regions agreed on Wednesday in a meeting with authorities of all levels and healthcare representatives.

They asked that all persons with potential symptoms are taken care of properly.

Radovan Viskovic, the Republika Srpska Prime Minister, said the meeting was called to check the preparedness of teams in both regions in case of the novel coronavirus outbreak in Bosnia.

“I have to say, as a conclusion, that panic should not be spread among the citizens, and the virus can be controlled if we stick to the prescribed procedures,” he said.

“All hospitals and healthcare institutions across Bosnia and Herzegovina are capable of controlling such cases in their areas, and only the patients with severe symptom should be sent to clinical centres,” said Viskovic, adding that the meeting was necessary to exchange information and send citizens a message that the authorities are doing all necessary work.

So far, Bosnia recorded no case of infection with coronavirus. Three Chinese nationals who were admitted to the Sarajevo Clinical Centre on Tuesday tested negative for coronavirus.

According to Fadil Novalic, the Federation Prime Minister, the Wednesday meeting held in the northern town Doboj, focused on all the aspects of this situation and the Governments’ tasks in the case of the virus outbreak.

“I have become optimistic after hearing the words of our experts, who worked hard on predictive servicing of this problem. We heard that our clinical centres cooperate well and that we have an isolation room already,” he said, underlining that there is no reason to panic even if and when the virus is detected.
