One more case of coronavirus infection was confirmed on Tuesday morning in Croatia, the ninth such case which tested positive for the disease over the last seven days. The latest case was discovered in the northern town of Varazdin, in a truck driver who had recently visited northern Italy to pick up cargo. Meanwhile, Bosnian authorities have not detected the virus presence in the country.
Croatian Health Minister, Vili Beros, told reporters on Tuesday that in spite of the infection, the man is not showing any symptoms of the disease.
This is the ninth case discovered in Croatia so far. Eight other people have been put into quarantine in the cities of Zagreb and Rijeka, in two separate clusters of patients who had been in close contact with the first two cases – a man from Rijeka who recently spent time in Parma, Italy, and a younger man from Zagreb who travelled to Milan two weeks ago.
All patients identified so far are exhibiting only mild to none symptoms of the disease, and all are expected to recover.
Meanwhile, a patient who was admitted to hospital in Bosnia's southern town Tomislavgrad tested negative for coronavirus, local healthcare authorities said on Tuesday. The man recently stayed in Italy and has undergone necessary tests immediately upon his return.
The novel coronavirus, which was first detected in China's Huabei province in December, has now spread globally, with more than 91,000 confirmed cases around the world as of Tuesday, including some 3,100 deaths.
In Europe, confirmed cases were discovered in at least two dozen countries. The worst affected European country by far is Italy, which reported more than 2,000 cases so far, including 52 deaths.
The United States reported more than 100 infections in six states as of Tuesday, includig six deaths.
