Out of seven new cases of people in Serbia who were positive on coronavirus, five were linked to two women who were in direct contact with a foreigner who recently was in the country and who was tested positive on COVID-19 after returning home, N1 reported on Wednesday.
The two other cases were confirmed after their trip and contacts with people in Italy and Germany.Serbia's Health Ministry warned the population to, based on the above examples, the importance of personal responsibility in a situation like this.
“These examples show that some people have taken the warnings and experts’ recommendations too easily in a sense that when they develop symptoms don't go into closed spaces and mingle with others. That only increases the risk of spreading the virus, since a single person with symptoms make 50 contacts in such circumstances and that jeopardises not only own health but those of others,” the Health Ministry said in a statement.
Since the first case until March 11, the National Laboratory of the Torlak Institue 130 people were tested. On Wednesday morning, 13 people were tested, seven of whom were positive and six negative on coronavirus.
The Health Ministry issues official data on tested people and the results twice a day, at 8 am and 6 pm. It also published emergency numbers for people who notice symptoms of the virus infections across Serbia.
