There are 12 new coronavirus cases in Croatia, bringing the total to 81, Health Minister Vili Beros said on Wednesday at a regular press conference of the national civil protection authority.

Speaking of infected doctors, he said the system was well and sufficiently organised and that it could reallocate doctors, nurses and other medical staff at a moment's notice to ensure adequate healthcare.

“Our preparations for stage three are adequate. I spoke this morning with the hospital directors in Split, Osijek and Rijeka. They all understood our orders seriously,” Beros said.

The epidemiological situation in Europe is not good as countries record more infections and deaths, he said.

For Croatia it is important that all the 25 negative tests done in the east were negative, which means that epidemiologists have done a great job, he added. A total of 1,205 tests have been done.

The city of Karlovac today reported its first coronavirus case.
