The head of the Islamic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina Husein Kavazovic on Friday called on the Islamic community to behave responsibly during the crisis caused by COVID-19 and to listen to doctors' recommendations.

Due to the danger of spreading the epidemic, the leadership of the Islamic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina had earlier decided that there would not be any collective religious rites in mosques noting that worshippers could say prayers at home.

On Friday Kavazovic conducted a religious service alone and in his sermon, he said that the greatest challenge to the present-day humanity including true believers, would be to overcome fear: one is the fear of the man who is migrating and the other is fear of the disease that is spreading.

“Let's be firm and strong, courageous and intrepid! Let's not become slaves to fear or illness that might even bypass us if we behave properly and responsibly,” Kavazovic said calling on believers not to listen to ‘quacks’ who are scaring us with forecasts of the end of the world.

He added that the most important thing is to listen to recommendations by doctors, to responsibly take care of themselves, of their daily hygiene and other precautions so that the disease is not spread further.
