NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg invited North Macedonia to join the Alliance as its 30th member state, Skopje's Government said in a statement, three days after Spain as the last member state ratified the NATO protocol.

It added that Stoltenberg wrote to Prime Minister Oliver Spasovski that all member states informed Washington they ratified the Accession Protocol signed in Brussels on February 6, 2019, and the document came into force.

“On behalf of all member states, I'm honoured to inform you and invite you to join the North-Atlantic agreement,” Stoltenberg wrote.

In line with NATO's agreement article 10, North Macedonia will officially become a full Alliance's member after depositing the accession instrument in Washington.

Spain was the last NATO member state which had ratified the protocol three days ago.
