Teams gathering experienced experts in intensive care medicine at the Bosnian-Herzegovinian American Academy of Arts and Sciences (BHAAS) have launched online project assisting hospitals and health workers in Bosnia as well as other ex-Yugoslav countries during the coronavirus pandemic, said the academy.
The consultations carried out under the sponsorship of the World Health Organisation (WHO) office in Sarajevo and Mayo Clinic Metric Group is aimed at exchanging the knowledge and experience in intensive care medicine, in order to protect the health of critically ill patients, nurses and doctors in the difficult circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic.
“First of all as a doctor and then as the BHAAS chair, I call on all my colleagues, as many of them as possible, to get engaged in this activity, help to stop this pandemic as soon as possible and have the consequences efficiently minimised,” said Mahira Tanovic.
Besides the rational and practical treatment guidelines that were recommended by the international organisations, the programme also includes the exchange of experience and knowledge among health workers in the region and the US.
Tele-education and discussion are broadcast live on a YouTube channel, while Q&A are possible on a WHO ICU Support chat group.
