While residents of other cities in Bosnia, region and worldwide support their health workers by rounds of applause from their balconies and windows, the southern city of Mostar sent a strong message of gratitude from its unique landmark saying simply – thank you!
“Hvala, thank you, grazie, gracias, merci, danke,” was written on Mostar’s famous Old Bridge, which was a message of the people of Mostar to all health workers in their own and the cities across the world, for the efforts they put in saving the lives and health of the citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Mostar people went through the worst suffering and they knew how to endure and wait for their victory. It’s going to be that way this time again,” said Safet Orucevic, former Mostar Mayor and head of the Peace Centre.
